Offers of help came from the entire Baltimore religious community to provide parishioners of the First Mount Olive Freewill Baptist Church in West Baltimore with a place to worship, following the devastating July 10 fire that destroyed the church.

A funeral Mass for Sister M. Maristella Walsh, I.H.M., was offered July 14 at Our Lady of Peace residence in Scranton, Pa. Sister Maristella died July 10. She was 81.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held for Sister M. Rene Stewart, a Mission Helper of the Sacred Heart, June 9. She died of brain cancer at Mercy Medical Center, Baltimore, on June 5 at the age of 75.

VATICAN CITY – Pope Benedict XVI is not taking the church backward with his decree on wider use of the Tridentine Mass, the Vatican’s spokesman said.

I am both a Pre-Vatican II Catholic and a Post-Vatican II Catholic. I have long wondered what all the fuss is about when it comes to whether the mass should be celebrated as it once was or now is. As best as I can determine, none of the changes changed anything of substance – so what is the issue?
