It’s been an exceptional year for the boys’ athletic programs at St. Mary’s High School, Annapolis, as the 2007 calendar year winds down.

The Calvert Hall College High School, Towson, varsity water polo team is the Eastern Prep School champion for 2007. The Cardinals won all three of their matches in a field of eight teams on Nov. 3-4 at Lawrenceville Prep in New Jersey to win the Prep School Championship for the fourth time in five years.

The Calvert Hall College High School Cardinals plowed through two big events last week, capturing the MIAA A Conference cross country title and then, on three days of rest, moved on to comfortably walk away with the state private schools title.

BALTIMORE – The U.S. bishops Nov. 13 elected Cardinal Francis E. George of Chicago as their president and Bishop Gerald F. Kicanas of Tucson, Ariz., as their vice president. Using an electronic voting system, the bishops voted on the second day of their Nov. 12-15 fall general meeting in Baltimore.
