Catholic bishops have expressed hope that Pope Francis will canonize Blessed John Henry Newman in 2019 after Vatican medics said the inexplicable healing of a U.S. mother was a miracle attributable to his intercession.

Wheeling-Charleston releases list of priests credibly accused of abuse against minors

The Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston released Nov. 29 the names of clergy who have been credibly accused of sexual abuse of minors. The list dates back to approximately 1950, which is the period for which there are reasonably reliable files, a diocesan statement said. More than 2,000 files were reviewed, containing tens of thousands of documents.

“How Can We Pray?” was written by Zachary Stachowski, director of music ministry at St. Ignatius of Loyola in Ijamsville, moved by the anger he felt immediately after the Pennsylvania Grand Jury Report on clergy sexual abuse was released in mid-August.

John Graziano died Nov. 13 in a T-38 Talon crash at Laughlin Air Force Base in Texas. He was 28, and a beloved member of the Catholic community in the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
