VATICAN CITY – Pope Benedict XVI has advanced the sainthood cause of a 6-year-old Italian girl who wrote letters to Jesus in the final stages of her illness. If she is eventually canonized, Antonietta Meo would become the youngest nonmartyr saint to be recognized under modern saint-making procedures.

Jason Evert, a national chastity speaker, has had to cancel all of his talks in the Baltimore area this week due to a family emergency. He was scheduled to speak in the evenings at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Ellicott City; Mount de Sales Academy; Mount St. Joseph High School; Our Lady of the Fields, Millersville; St. Stephen, Bradshaw; and at 10 area Catholic schools during the school day. The talks will be rescheduled later this year.
