Let us think of Isaiah and of John the Baptist our Patron who were called in their mother’s womb to announce the coming of the Lord. Thus Isaiah proclaims: “The Lord called me from birth, from my mother’s womb he gave me my name.” 

And to be a follower of Jesus means we’ve opened our minds and hearts to his love; it means we seek to live in the Lord’s presence, under his loving gaze, and allow him to redeem and transform our lives completely and to fill us with a grace, a peace, and joy the world cannot give, so much so that we want to share our faith and our joy with others.

Jesus demands absolute faith in his Person and in his mission, a mission in which the Father draws us to Jesus lifted high upon the Cross so that we might share in his Resurrection. No longer are we to be redeemed by animal sacrifices – rather it is the Lord, God’s own Son in the flesh, who gives himself to the Father and wherein to us on the Cross in sacrificial love.
