Pope Francis has appointed a Baltimore native who grew up across the street from Memorial Stadium as an auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Washington.

The Catholic Church in Congo said emergency measures will remain indefinitely in place in parishes at risk of Ebola, and urged effective action against the disease by the government of President Joseph Kabila.

Baltimore City Mayor Catherine Pugh announced June 6 that she will implement the Baltimore City Parish ID system for immigrants in the community.
