Bishop Denis J. Madden of Baltimore and 23 priests began their pilgrimage in the Holy Land Oct. 12 with Mass at the Notre Dame Center in Jerusalem, just outside the walls of the Old City. Listening to a reading from Luke’s Gospel of Jesus speaking to the “good thief” who he promised would join him that day in Paradise, the bishop said, “We will visit the sites … tomorrow where these words were spoken.”
