Vatican nuclear stance applauded

At a time when the Vatican is criticized for failing to provide moral leadership in regard to sex abuse by priests and administrative failure of bishops to properly supervise offenders, I’d like to praise its moral leadership regarding nuclear weaponry disarmament, almost from the dawn of the nuclear age.

It’s time we act, while the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Review process proceeds at the United Nations. The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, International Justice & Peace, and Catholic Relief Services Grassroots Advocacy ask us to urge our representatives to co-sponsor House Resolution 278, “The Global Security Priorities Resolution” to slash $13 billion from nuclear arms budget.
