Sister Margaret R. Timmerman, M.H.S.H.

A funeral Mass was offered May 3 for Sister Margaret R. Timmerman, M.H.S.H. at The Villa in Baltimore. Sister Margaret died April 30. She was 92. Father Thomas Francis, O.C.S.O., Sister Margaret’s brother, offered the funeral liturgy.

Born in Baltimore and raised in St. James the Less parish, Sister Margaret entered the Mission Helpers of the Sacred Heart in 1935. Given the religious name Sister Mary Fides of the Passion, she professed first vows in 1936. She resumed use of her baptismal name in 1969.

Sister Margaret served as a parish visitor and a catechist in numerous missions in Baltimore and eight other states. She held a bachelor’s degree from College of Notre Dame of Maryland, Baltimore, and a master’s degree from The Catholic University of America, Washington.

Sister Margaret was a monthly contributor to “Catechist” magazine and was the author of two catechetical books and coauthor of a third grade religion text and workbook set.
