Archdiocese Holds Breakfast Event for Local Execs, Philanthropists Who Support Catholic Education in Baltimore City

Archbishop William E. Lori, Archbishop of Baltimore, will be joined by Baltimore City Catholic school students and educators for a presentation to local business executives and philanthropists about the Archdiocese’s Partners in Excellence (PIE) Scholarship Program, which provides tuition assistance to at-risk, inner city youth wishing to attend a Catholic school.

The Partners in Excellence scholarship program was created by Cardinal William H. Keeler and has provided more than 24,000 scholarships totaling more than $26 million to disadvantaged youth of Baltimore.

During Wednesday’s presentation to representatives from the local business community, Archbishop Lori will announce the creation of a new award, the St. Thomas Aquinas Partners in Excellence Award, to be given annually in recognition of an individual for his or her support of the PIE program. This year’s recipient is the late Curran “Cub” Harvey, who funded 3,000 PIE scholarships during his years of support of PIE.
