St. John Regional Catholic School Give Thanks to Military Services

At St. John Regional Catholic School in Frederick, Maryland, the students honored and gave thanks to United States military veterans and active duty soldiers during the month of November.

As a visual reminder of their thanks, student’s adorned the school’s doorways with “stars” they created in honor of their military friends and family. Middle school students participated in the “Adopt-a-Soldier” program by donating items for personal care packages which will be sent to soldiers overseas. And within the St. John’s Regional community, students with a parent who has been deployed attended a special luncheon in their honor and veterans of the school staff were presented with flowers and notes of thanks for their service.

Throughout the year, students in the Archdiocese of Baltimore’s Catholic schools participate in numerous and diverse service opportunities . A 2010 study shows that graduates of Catholic schools are more poised to become socially responsible leaders, in part, because of their volunteer activities and elevated academic achievement.

St. John Regional Catholic School, a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, serves students in grades Pre-K through eight and has a current enrollment of 580 students. The school is hosting an Open House on December 2 from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM for prospective families. For more information, please call 301-662-6722 or visit their website.
