Visitors from South Africa
Students from South Africa visit
8 deaf students and 2 deaf teachers from St. Martin de Porres School for the Deaf in Port Shepstone, South Africa visited the area. The group toured the Maryland School for the Deaf (MSD) in Frederick and were welcomed warmly by staff and students. The students from St. Martin Performed a traditional African dance for their hosts. At the end of the school day, the staff of MSD treated the visitors with tickets to rides at the Great Frederick Fair, and hamburgers and fries at the local Five Guys!
The group stayed in the area and toured other schools for the Deaf including: Gallaudet University and the Model Secondary School for the Deaf on the Gallaudet campus. The group was also treated to tours of Washington, D.C. and Annapolis during their visit.
