Thanksgiving prayers, blessings before the big meal, music, and reflections: Day 4

Introduction:

In the nine days leading up to Thanksgiving I will share a novena of prayers, reflections, and music selections that may enhance the celebration of this special day with your family and friends.

Day 4: Focus on families with small children and persons with disabilities.

Day 4:

Today I share a Thanksgiving prayer that is easily used and adaptable for families with young children and persons with disabilities.

This litany comes from the Sisters of Saint Francis who have wonderful prayer resources on their website. Litanies can be a wonderful prayer for families with young children. The repetition of the words “We thank you” is easy for children. Additional mention of gifts and blessings can be added after the ones suggested here.

 Litany of Thanksgiving:

For the gift of life: We thank you.

For the gift of family: We thank you.

For the gift of this food: We thank you.

For our friends: We thank you.

For laughter: We thank you.

For our safety: We thank you.

For our shelter: We thank you.

For the gift of love: We thank you.

For the abundance of your love, O God: We thank you.

 Amen.
