St. Mary’s students race for their school’s future

ANNAPOLIS – Some 815 students from St. Mary’s Elementary School in Annapolis took part in the school’s annual fundraising “Race for Education” April 20. Some students, such as eighth-grader Kevin Keegan, ran eight miles in laps around the school’s campus and on the sidewalks of Annapolis.

“You have all your friends there, it’s crowded, you’re ready to go,” Kevin said of the start of the race. “You have to do the best that you can and keep going.”

Last year’s event raised $92,000, and organizers said they were hoping to match that total this year.
