Sister Kathryn Rolley, I.H.M., dies

A funeral Mass for Sister Kathryn Rolley, a member of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, was offered Jan. 24 in Scranton, Pa. Sister Kathryn died Jan. 19. She was 89 and had been a sister for more than six decades.

A native of Karthaus, Pa., Sister Kathryn, formerly known as Sister M. Serena, entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1945.

She served as a teacher at St. Bernardine School in Baltimore from 1953 to 1958. Sister Kathryn, who taught for 55 years, also served in New York, Pennsylvania, North Carolina.

Sister Kathryn earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Marywood University in Scranton.
