Sister Helen Reed, S.S.N.D, dies at 91

A funeral Mass for School Sister of Notre Dame Helen Reed was offered May 3 at the chapel at Villa Notre Dame in Wilton, Conn. Sister Helen died April 30. She was 91 and had been a sister for nearly 70 years.

A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Sister Helen professed first vows in 1942. She served as an educator from 1942 to 1952 at the former St. Ann School and from 1952 to 1955 at the Institute of Notre Dame in Baltimore. Sister Helen earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from what is now Notre Dame of Maryland University and a master’s degree in chemistry from the Catholic University of America.
