Scythian, World Youth Day performers, at Baltimore’s Rams Head Live

Scythian, a Washington D.C.-based band that performed for 250,000 at 2008 World Youth Day in Sydney, Australia, can be seen in more intimate surroundings Aug. 14, when it performs an all-ages show at Rams Head Live in Baltimore.

Danylo Fedoryka, who plays rhythm guitar and accordion, and his brother Alex, who plays violin, mandolin, harmonica and bass, attended Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio.

Their classmates there included Father John Rapisarda, the associate pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, who saw them perform at World Youth Day.

The group’s eclectic repertoire includes Celtic music and bluegrass. On St. Patrick’s Day 2007, Scythian performed for President George W. Bush and Ireland prime minister Bertie Ahern.

The concert coincides with the release of the band’s fourth album, “Scythian Live.” Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door. For more information, go to www.ramsheadlive.com.
