This year, the United States marks the 250th anniversary of its founding. Across the nation, communities celebrate this milestone with parades, concerts, fireworks and gatherings that honor our shared history. This anniversary is also an opportunity for Americans to come together in prayer for our country.
We pray for peace, prosperity, and unity. We pray that our nation will continue to endure and that it will more fully reflect the ideals of justice, liberty, and human dignity upon which it was founded.
As we pray for our nation, we are also invited to reflect honestly on who we are as a people—recognizing both our achievements and our shortcomings. Guided by faith and God’s wisdom, we can discern how best to strengthen our communities, uphold our responsibilities as citizens and preserve the blessings of freedom and opportunity for future generations.
