Pius XII not to blame for Holocaust

I have heard several times on local public radio station’s news that certain groups are pointing a finger at Pope Pius XII and accusing him of not doing anything to help prevent the Holocaust.

This is absolutely absurd. The mass extermination of Jews was carried out in Germany and in areas under German occupation. None of this could be prevented until Germany was defeated; and also only when the allied military forces had entered the areas where these exterminations were being carried out. The Vatican did not possess military forces. To point a finger at Pope Pius XII and the Vatican in this matter is like pointing the finger at Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Winston Churchill.

I also wish to point out that it was not fully known by the outside world that these exterminations were being carried out only until the Allied military forces had entered the areas involved.
