BALTIMORE, MD — Partners in Excellence (PIE), the scholarship program of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, is pleased to announce a $500,000 challenge grant from the Rollins-Luetkemeyer Foundation to expand scholarship opportunities for middle-income families seeking a Catholic education for their children.
The Foundation’s two-year commitment will provide $250,000 annually and will challenge PIE to raise an additional $1 million in matching support, creating the potential for a $1.5 million investment in Catholic education for Baltimore-area students and families.
For 30 years, Partners in Excellence has helped make Catholic education accessible to families who otherwise may not have been able to afford it. Since 1996, PIE has provided more than $42 million in scholarship assistance, helping thousands of students attend Catholic schools throughout the Baltimore region.
“This extraordinary commitment from the Rollins-Luetkemeyer Foundation allows us to reach families who are increasingly finding Catholic school tuition beyond their financial reach,” said Roxanne Fiddler, Director of Partners in Excellence. “Even more importantly, the challenge gives our donors an opportunity to multiply the impact of their generosity and help us open the doors of Catholic education to even more students.”
The Rollins-Luetkemeyer grant will focus on expanding scholarship assistance for moderate-income families in Baltimore City and Baltimore County, who have students in middle school. The initiative represents an important expansion of PIE’s traditional scholarship model while continuing its commitment to ensuring that family income does not stand in the way of educational opportunity.
Under the challenge, for every $2 raised by Partners in Excellence, the Rollins-Luetkemeyer Foundation will contribute $1, up to its $500,000 commitment.
“This partnership comes at an especially meaningful moment as Partners in Excellence celebrates its 30th anniversary,” Fiddler added. “It gives us the opportunity not only to celebrate three decades of impact, but to build the foundation for the next generation of PIE scholars.”
