Keynote presenters APeX Ministries are talented guys who can get you laughing one minute and pondering theologically in the next. I wanted to share some video flavor from their presentations so far. Just had to share this. It’s a St. Paul hero trading card. Catholic Review photographer Owen Sweeney thinks George Lucas is already preparing a lawsuit. I’ll see if there’s a St. Peter Admiral Ackbar card.
I’ll be writing more about this later, but Bob McCarty of the the National Federation of Catholic Youth Ministry is conducting a workshop right now that has kids engaged. It’s absolutely packed here. McCarty said disciples are called to step up. Disciples don’t hide. They step out. It’s an interesting challenge and refresher for teens […]

Greetings from Ocean City. Wishing you were here. Or, maybe you are on your way, so stop by and say hello. Hundreds of teens from across the Archdiocese of Baltimore are about to leave their parishes and head for the shore. Things are already happening in the Clarion Hotel. There’s a Pope Benedict XVI cardboard […]
Just a head’s up if you’re fan of musicals, plays or just want to support talented high school teens… Seton Keough is presenting the beloved “Sound of Music” on Nov. 19 (TONIGHT!) and 20 at 7:30 p.m., and Nov. 21 at 2 p.m. The musical will feature over 60 students in the cast, crew, and […]
It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since the National Catholic Youth Conference in Kansas City. Hundreds of teens from the Archdiocese of Baltimore showed the country that they were unapologetically Catholic and excited about it. My good friend Kristin Witte, formerly of the archdiocese’s Youth and Young Adult Ministry office and now of […]
In the opening minutes of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I, it becomes brutally clear this is no longer a children’s story. It has been said that the world has watched Harry Potter and friends grow up before our eyes. I’d disagree. We’ve seen their childhoods destroyed. The innocence in Potter’s eyes that greeted us six […]
The Catholic Review Last week, I wrote about the various vocations that are crucial to the fulfillment of the Church’s mission, focusing on the Sacrament of the Holy Order of Deacon. The vocations of our permanent deacons, as with priests, are visible to the Catholic community. You see their generous labors at Masses, Baptisms, funerals, […]
Holy Family in Randallstown served as a police staging area Nov. 18 after a man shot his wife and locked himself in his home on Oak Trace Way, less than a mile from the church. The woman was flown to shock trauma from Holy Family after escaping from the home.
