Legion and Regnum Christi have had meaningful impact

I was concerned by “Archbishop O’Brien raises concerns about Legion of Christ” (CR, Feb. 26). The Legion and Regnum Christi have had and continue to have a meaningful impact in the faith of my family and many others in Baltimore.

I have had the privilege of working with many of the great leaders in the Archdiocese of Baltimore and have had more than one conversation about the personal impact the Legion and Regnum Christi have had. As a supporter of the CLA, I’ve had the honor of having dinner with Cardinal William H. Keeler on more than one occasion. I have spoken at regional pastors meetings about the meaningful impact the Legion and Regnun Christi were having in our families. After all these efforts and years, I struggle to understand how we can still be in such a poor intra-faith dialogue.

There are a lot of good Catholic people working within Regnum Christi and the Legion that are unduly hurt by this type of one-sided reporting.

The writer is a parishioner of St John the Evangelist in Severna Park and former member of Regnum Christi.
