Knights install new state deputy

Richard V. Siejack was installed as state deputy of the Maryland State Council Knights of Columbus during a June 20 Mass at St. John the Evangelist in Hydes.

Conventual Franciscan Father Donald Grzymski, pastor of St. Clement Mary Hofbauer, Rosedale, who was installed as state chaplain, was the main celebrant. He was assisted by Monsignor. Martin E. Feild, pastor St. Joseph, Taneytown; Father William F. Franken, pastor St. John the Evangelist, Hydes; and several deacons.

Other state officers installed were Peter Davio, state secretary; William C. Kuchmas III, state treasurer; Stephen J. Adamczyk, state advocate; and Stephen M. Cohen, state warden.

More than 400 members attended the Mass and reception to show their support to the new officers who were installed for the 2009-2010 fraternal year. At the reception, Siejack named Peter R. O’Sullivan, a knight with more than 50 years of service to the order, as the Maryland State Council Honoree for the 2009-2010 fraternal year. O’Sullivan and his wife Jeanne are parishioners of St. Joseph, Sykesville.

Recently, Siejack conducted a focused and intense training session at Mount St. Mary’s University with grand knights and district deputies traveling from the Eastern Shore, the borders of Pennsylvania, from southern Maryland and the far reaches of Western Maryland to attend. At the sessions the new state deputy spoke of his vision and mission for the thousands of Knights in the state, sharing with the officers his thoughts on “We are Called to Serve” and his inclusion of Divine Mercy devotion as hallmarks of his administration.
