John Carroll Lectures to focus on priesthood

In the Year for Priests, three speakers will address aspects of the priestly life during the John Carroll Lectures held at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Baltimore.

Archbishop Wilton Gregory of Atlanta will speak March 7 on “Father-Brother-Friend; Bishop-Priest Relationships.” Bishop William Murphy of Rockville Centre, New York, will speak April 18 on “The American Priest and the Social Gospel,” and Father Michael Roach, pastor of St. Bartholomew in Manchester, will deliver a May 16 lecture entitled, “On the whole, an independent lot, the Catholic clergy of Baltimore.”

The lectures begin at 2 p.m. and are free and open to the public.
