Almost all events submitted – if they are sponsored by a Catholic parish, school or other organization in the Archdiocese of Baltimore – will be featured in the online calendar.
A human monitor will approve submissions for posting.
Events submitted by the first of the month prior to the month of the event may be considered for the print edition of Catholic Review magazine (e.g., by Jan. 1 for publication in the February magazine). So that all entities in the archdiocese have a fair opportunity to be listed in the limited space in the print publication, entities will be limited to no more than two in each calendar month print edition. If more than two have been submitted, Catholic Review Media staff will decide which items to publish, at their discretion.
Entering the House of Love – Lenten Weekend Retreat
February 27, 2026 @ 4:00 pm - March 1, 2026 @ 1:00 pm EST
$310
The Lenten journey is a rich invitation to listen more deeply to God’s call within and to respond more fully and freely with all of our being. The spiritual writer Henri Nouwen describes the spiritual life as being a movement out of the “house of fear into the house of love.” In this early-Lenten retreat, we will explore the healing transformation that Jesus opens up for us, bringing us back to an awareness of who and whose we are in God’s loving heart, out of places of fear, shame and brokenness. Through prayer, shared silence, and group reflection on Scripture and Nouwen’s wisdom — and nurturing, safe space to be ourselves — we will seek together, in the words of the Sisters of Bon Secours, the “warm human features of Christ” who beckons us on our Lenten journey to follow Him and be healed. This will be a modified silent retreat, with some periods of silence and other portions inviting sharing among participants. Guided by Amy Sorensen Kulesa.
Check-in begins at 4pm. There will be a brief welcome session at 5:30pm, followed by dinner at 6pm. The retreat begins after dinner at 7pm on Friday and concludes after lunch on Sunday. Mass will be available Sunday morning for those who wish to attend.
