Concert Series set for Cathedral of Mary Our Queen

The Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in Homeland has announced its 2010-11 music series. Below are concerts scheduled through the end of the year. Unless otherwise indicated, the programs are free.

Sept. 19, 5 p.m., “Pictures on Silence – Harp and Saxophone,” featuring harpist Jacqueline Pollauf and saxophonist Noah Gertz.

Oct. 10, 5 p.m., “Solemn Choral Vespers” featuring the Cathedral Choir under the direction of Daniel J. Sansone. Works will include the Magnificat by Herbert Howells.

Oct. 24, 5 p.m., Organ concert by Katherine Hunt, associate director of music at the cathedral. Works will include pieces by Mendelssohn, Muffat and Whitlock.

Nov. 28, 5 p.m., “A Festival of Lessons and Carols for Advent” featuring the St. Stephen’s Choir of Men and Boys.

Nov. 30, 7:30 p.m., The International Women’s Brass Conference, Maryland Chapter, presents its 7th annual Holiday Brass Concert. Call 410-337-7539 for tickets.

Dec. 5, 5 p..m., Canticle Singers, a select women’s chamber choir, will perform a program of seasonal choral music. Call 410-374-9312 for tickets.

Dec. 12, 5 p.m., the women of the Cathedral Choir will present Benjamin Britten’s popular Christmas ‘Ceremony of Carols,’ accompanied by harpist Jacqueline Pollauf.

Dec. 19, 5 p.m., ‘A Festival of Lessons and Carols for Christmas,’ sung in a candlelight setting will be performed.
