Cockeysville students recognized by the Timonium Optimist Club

Three eighth-graders from St. Joseph School in Cockeysville were recently recognized by the Timonium Optimist Club.

Claire Fitzgerald and Peter Smith received the award for Youth Appreciation Week, which was celebrated at the end of November. Peter is an altar server and sacristan who achieves straight A’s and has been selected to be a gifted and talented student at Johns Hopkins. He is involved in soccer, drama, student government and It’s Academic.

Claire has participated in competitions such as It’s Academic, Catholic High Math Olympiad and IND Scholympics. She is also involved in student council, drama, choir, photography, ushering at church and other community service projects.

Kelly Caubo was named the Optimist Club’s Student of the Month for December 2012. Kelly has maintained an A+ average since the sixth-grade and is an active participant in her community, baking for My Sister’s Place, greeting parishioners at Mass, making sandwiches for Our Daily Bread and collecting food via the school’s Carpool Pantry program. She also participates in the school’s photography and production clubs, academic competitions and is a member of the Baltimore County Fencing Group.
