Catholic Daughters aid Jamaican sister parish

Catholic Daughters of the Americas, St. John the Evangelist Court 2350, recently hosted a welcome luncheon for Father Joe Mndambo of the St. Philomena Mission Church in Clarendon, Jamaica, West Indies – a sister parish of St. John’s.

Having waited several years for the opportunity to greet Father Joe in person, Catholic Daughters welcomed him to Severna Park and presented him with a check for $1,100, along with additional individual donations of $200. These funds will be used for bicycles for the Jamaican parish children to go to school, too far away to reach on foot. This gift represented the second CDA major fundraiser for St. Philomena. Two years ago, St. John’s Catholic Daughters sent $3,500 to St. Philomena, which subsequently suffered major damages from Hurricane Dean. Through various fundraisers and individual donations, Catholic Daughters raised money once again to help the sister parish.
