Caroline Center given Network 2000 awards grant

Network 2000, a Maryland organization promoting the advancement of women in business, awarded grants to two local programs last month during its annual Women of Excellence luncheon.

The Caroline Center and Girl’s Empowerment Mission (GEM) are this year’s grant recipients because the work of these programs reflects the mission of Network 2000 to support women in or entering the workforce.

Founded in 1996 by the School Sisters of Notre Dame, the Caroline Center seeks to assist unemployed and underemployed women to acquire the discipline, knowledge and necessary skills to find work in a career with potential for growth and advancement, thus creating a future full of hope for themselves and their families.

The Caroline Center strives to fulfill this mission throughout the larger metropolitan area.

GEM is a program empowering young women who attend Chesapeake High School, by providing opportunities and growth experiences, ultimately enabling them to become independent, self-sufficient and confident young women.

Network 2000 accepts grant requests throughout the year. Grants are awarded to organizations for their programs that support women entering or advancing in the workforce.
