Cardinal Keeler and Youth to “Walk the Walk” at Ninth Annual Youth and Young Adult Pilgrimage

Cardinal William H. Keeler, Archbishop of Baltimore, will lead approximately 650 young people in a pilgrimage through the streets of Baltimore to mark the beginning of Holy Week on Saturday, March 23, 2002. This year’s Youth Pilgrimage will feature some youth and young adults dressed to represent saints and religious leaders of yesterday and today. Scarecrow & Tinmen, a Florida based techno-folk Christian band, will perform at several locations during the pilgrimage.

The journey will begin at 12:00 Noon with a rally at Rash Field located at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Cardinal Keeler and the band will join the pilgrims in prayer and song. The procession will depart from Rash Field at 12:45 p.m. as the pilgrims and Cardinal Keeler carry an 8-foot wooden cross to several prayer sites. The first stop will be BGE Plaza at Charles Center where they will gather for reflection and prayer in remembrance of the pilgrimage of Jesus. The next stop will be Mother Seton House located at 600 N. Paca Street where the pilgrims will hear testimonies of their faith and take part in the Blessing of the Palm by Cardinal Keeler. From there, the pilgrims will process to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary located on the corner of Cathedral and Mulberry Streets for Palm Sunday Liturgy, celebrated by Cardinal Keeler beginning at 3:45 p.m.
