Archdiocese welcomes new principals and presidents

Madelyn Ball
The John Carroll School, Bel Air

As Madelyn Ball learns more about The John Carroll School in Bel Air, the new principal is constantly amazed by the breadth of the 700-student school’s program.

“There’s just so much going on,” said Ball, who comes to John Carroll from The Catholic High School of Baltimore, where she served as principal for one year. “It’s a very active campus.”

Ball cited a growing foreign student population, a respected STEM program and a fine arts program that has 17 different offerings.

“We’re opening The John Carroll School’s Academy of Performing Arts and Dance in September,” she said. “It will include dance and musical theater instruction for students ages 7 to adult.”

As principal, Ball hopes to cultivate John Carroll’s programs and nurture its Catholic identity.

Ball received a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and a master’s degree in education from American University.
