Archdiocesan institutions receive Knott grants

Ten institutions of the Archdiocese of Baltimore were among 34 organizations to receive grants from the Knott Foundation, which was founded in 1977 by Marion I. and Henry J. Knott.

The details of their grants follow.

Archbishop Spalding High School, Severn: $100,000 towards the cost of a new 24,000-square-foot Arts & Technology Building.

The Cardinal Gibbons School, Baltimore: $52,484 for renovation of the chapel.

Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, Baltimore: $130,000 in support of the Body, Mind, Spirit program, which is fully integrated with other core courses, as well as physical education and service programs.

Franciscan Center, Baltimore: $50,000 in general operating support to fund two components of the emergency Services Program, the Health Support Initiative and the HIV/AIDS Program.

Immaculate Heart of Mary School, Baynesville: $60,000 for the bathroom restoration project at the Baynesville school.

Institute of Notre Dame, Baltimore: $200,000 to assist with the implementation of its Learning for the 21st Century technology enhancement program.

Loyola Blakefield, Towson: $44,907 for the purchase of SMART Boards and Tablet PCs.

St. Agnes School, Catonsville: $50,543 to install a poured rubber athletic floor in the new Parish Activities Center.

St. William of York School, Baltimore: $25,000 to support Technology and Math software upgrades.

Towson Catholic High School: $50,000 to help launch the Marian Program to address the void in educational opportunities for students with language learning differences.
