A million reasons to celebrate

Woodmont Academy, Cooksville, met and exceeded a fundraising challenge issued by The Cunningham Family Foundation. Thomas C. Cunningham, a parent of four Woodmont students, committed to donate at least $900,000 to the school’s capital campaign, Building Faith … Forming Leaders, reliant upon the school raising $1 million on its own by the end of 2006.

Woodmont’s families, its community and 100 percent participation of its faculty and staff secured $1.1 million in pledges. The Cunningham Family Foundation added in $914,000, which placed the school at 80 percent of their $2.5 million goal. The funds will offset construction cost of the middle school and campus development.

Executive director Scott F. Brown made the announcement and thanked everyone following a Jan. 5 Mass for their spirit of partnership and generous support. “The Cunningham family exemplifies true apostleship,” he said. “They are faithful stewards of their resources and use them for the greater good, as evidenced by the many good works Tom and his wife Rosy continue to accomplish.”
