Loyola professor publishes book on United Nations

Father Joseph Rossi, S.J., associate professor of theology at Loyola College in Maryland, Baltimore, has published his second book chronicling the connection between the American Catholic Church and the United Nations.

“Uncharted Territory,” published by The Catholic University of America Press, examines how the National Catholic Welfare Conference attempted to mold the United Nations in the image of a Catholic world order in the wake of the Second World War.

The book builds on the work of Father Rossi’s earlier publication, “American Catholics and the Formation of the United Nations” by looking at the American Catholic Church at the United Nations from 1946-72. It explores in detail the ultimate dissolution of an official American Catholic presence at the United Nations.
