Calvert Hall alumni dies in medevac accident

The Calvert Hall College High School community is in mourning after hearing of the death of Mickey Lippy, a member of the class of 1992.

Mr. Lippy, a Maryland State Trooper, was killed when the medevac helicopter he was riding in crashed during an evacuation of a car accident victim in Prince George’s County. Three others died in the helicopter accident.

“Anyone that knew Mickey knew what he would end up doing with his life and career,” a statement released by the school said of the Westminster resident. “He wanted to be a paramedic since the age of 3, after being treated for an arm injury. He loved helping people and he ran bravely into situations most would fear. Mickey had a huge heart, an unwavering strength and was a true friend to many of us. He will be missed.”

He is survived by his wife, Christina, his 4-month-old daughter Madison, parents Bruce and Wilma and sisters Dawn and Diana.

A funeral was scheduled to be held Oct. 3 at the Gamber Volunteer Fire Department in Finksburg with a burial at the Dulaney Memorial Gardens in Timonium to follow.

A trust fund for his daughter has been created through the Harford Financial Group.
