Population authority to give talk at Cathedral Sept. 30

Steven W. Mosher, president of the Population Research Institute, will give a speech titled “The Overpopulation Myth: Flawed Science, Faulty Math and Reasoning,”.Sept. 30 at 7:00 p.m. at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in Homeland.

According to pop.org, Mosher is an internationally recognized authority on China and population issues, working for more than three decades to “fight coercive population control programs.”

Mosher is the author of “A Mother’s Ordeal: One Woman’s Fight Against China’s One-Child Policy.” According to his biography, in 1979 Mosher was the first American social scientist to visit mainland China, invited there by the Chinese government.

After witnessing women being forced to have abortions under the new “one-child policy, Mosher went from being a self-described pro-choice atheist to reconsidering his convictions and becoming a pro-life Catholic.

Mosher lives in Virginia with his wife, Vera, and their nine children.
