Scout retreat to be ecumenical event

The Religious Scout Retreat planned for May 2-4 at Camp Spencer – Broad Creek Memorial Scout Reservation will combine Catholic, Protestant and Jewish Scouts. The theme will be “Caretakers of God’s Creations,” which will impress upon Scouts of all faiths the responsibility of the human race for caring for the world.

The annual retreat will have a day program for Cubs and Webelos as well as a full weekend program for Scouts. An introduction to the Religious Emblem programs and the Chaplains Aide program will also be provided for adult leaders. Troops will be given a choice between camp-provided meals or Troop cooking, and a separate kosher kitchen will be provided for the Jewish contingent. In keeping with the 12th point of the Scout Law, “A Scout is Reverent,” Scout leaders should encourage their units to participate in this event.
