Magliano misses the point

I am appalled at the omission of a true patriotic article (CR, July 2), one that real patriotism shown by our brave men and women who continue to afford all Americans the opportunity to live in a free country.

I am a recently naturalized American who appreciates what this country has stood for over the years. Unfortunately, the inherent evil nature of mankind forces the reality that a strong military presence is needed to assure the freedoms we hold so dear. Although columnist Tony Magliano is entitled to his opinion, guaranteed by our constitution, I think he misses the point of real patriotism, when he is really speaking of global patriotism, which would only be possible if Christ were here now and in charge of the earth.
