Don’t revere a president who supports abortion

I was extremely distraught by the Ralph E. Moore Jr. column (CR, Jan. 15). I find it hard to believe that a Catholic newspaper could have condoned such a thing. Are Catholics really this ignorant to place Obama next to real prophets like John the Baptist and Moses? Even comparing him to Martin Luther King is a stretch. I have never heard of Catholics who would revere a man promoting a law requiring Catholic hospitals to perform abortions.

Has anyone in support of Obama even read the Bishops’ document, Faithful Citizenship? If so, they would have realized that by even supporting Obama they are supporting intrinsic evil and damaging their own personal salvation. It is truly a sad day when a 17-year-old girl has more sense than half the adults in the world who can actually vote.

I’m not saying that there are not important issues to be dealt with. The war and the economic situations are very important, and I truly hope that Obama is beneficial to the country in that respect. The fact of the matter is, though, that he hasn’t even started his term yet, so how do we know he will even do anything? Sure we can hope for “change,” but is it really going to come?
