Voted Best Private Schools in The Capital’s Readers Choice 2011 Awards

St. Mary’s Elementary School (SMES) and St. Mary’s High School (SMHS) were recently named “Best Private Schools” as part of the Annapolis area in The Annapolis Capital newspaper’s Readers Choice 2011 Awards.

St. Mary’s Elementary School (founded in 1862) is a K-8 Catholic coeducational parish school dedicated to vibrant faith, academic excellence and lifelong learning. The school has been designated a Maryland Green School, offers an award-winning enrichment program, and instills a sense of service to others with monthly service projects.

St. Mary’s High School (founded in 1946) is a Catholic parish school with an outstanding record of preparing students academically, socially and spiritually. The school has a long history of academic excellence; the St. Mary’s High School class of 2011 distinguished itself by having the highest class grade point average (GPA) in five years and earned over $9.1 million dollars in scholarship and grants.

Voting was conducted online in March and lasted several weeks.
