Sulpician Father Gene Konkel dies

A funeral Mass for Sulpician Father Gene Konkel will be offered Sept. 24 at St. Patrick’s Seminary and University in Menlo Park, Calif. Father Konkel died Sept. 14. He was 81.

A native of Milwaukee, Father Konkel was ordained for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee in 1957 and was admitted to the Society of St. Sulpice in 1959. He was a faculty member of St. Charles College in Baltimore from 1957-1963 before serving on seminary facilities in Kentucky, California and Hawaii. He directed the Vatican II Institute at St. Patrick’s Seminary and University in Menlo Park from 1978-2001, and served as a faculty member for the seminary and university from 2003 until his death.
