Memorial Mass to be celebrated one month later for Father Brooksbank

One month after the death of Father Kevin Brooksbank, associate pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary, Baynesville, the parish community will celebrate a “Month’s Mind” memorial Mass for the priest June 25 at 7p.m.

Following the Mass, there will be a blessing and dedication of a cusa dogwood tree that was planted in front of the church in Father Brooksbank’s memory. All are welcome to attend.

“The unexpected death of Father Kevin is still very much on the minds of the staff and all the parish,” said Father Michael W. Carrion, pastor. “While we will always cherish the memories of his ministry, his music and his humor, it will also be the strength of the faith that he shared with us that will allow us to move forward with faith that the Lord, in his own time, will bring comfort and healing even to the painful moments that are so difficult for us to face and understand. We are all better for the time we did have with him.”

A “Month’s Mind” Mass of requiem is offered for a departed person on or near the 30th day after decease or burial.

Father Brooksbank died May 25 at age 35 after battling a viral infection and kidney failure.
