Father Byron was right about “the alternative”

I loved reading Father William Byron’s column, “Considering ‘the alternative” (CR, July 30). It is so true that most people fear “the alternative” when you ask them how they are doing, particularly if they have been sick. Like Father Bryon, I ask people, why do they think the alternative would be so bad? Surely we miss those close to us who have died, but we must realize they are at peace and are free of all troubles. If you have faith, believe then that “the alternative” is far better than the cruel and crazy world we live in.
