Media Guidelines for Funeral of Spc. Christopher J. Coffland

The funeral Mass for Spc. Christopher J. Coffland will be held on Saturday, November 21 at 11 a.m. at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen, 5200 N. Charles Street, Baltimore. The family has consented to allowing media (including cameras) inside the Cathedral during the funeral.

Interviews with those attending the funeral who are not members of the immediate family of the deceased will be permitted outside the Cathedral (see instructions below).**

The Coffland family will not be granting interviews on Saturday.

Media parking: Media are asked to park vehicles along the wall to the South of the Cathedral’s front entrance. “Live” vehicles may be parked on the sidewalk that runs parallel to the driveway leading up to the Cathedral – no trucks are permitted to park in the driveway or on the plaza.

Interviews: Interviews must be conducted outside the Cathedral, on the plaza (the open area directly across the driveway from the front of the Cathedral), not on the front steps or the sidewalk on the Cathedral side of the driveway. Interviews conducted directly in front of the Cathedral entrance should not take place until after the family has departed.

Media positioning/seating: Videographers and still photographers will be allowed to stand in the side aisles and the rear of the Cathedral. No photography will be permitted in the center aisle or directly in front of the sanctuary (altar area). Seating for reporters will be reserved inside the Cathedral.

News helicopters: Please have news helicopters hover at a respectful distance, so as not to disrupt the solemnity of the occasion.
