Discerning as a Young Adult & Beyond

God calls people in various stages of life.
He sometimes asks us, as he did Andrew and Peter, to drop our nets and follow Him.

Cultivate a Healthy Prayer Life

As a Young Adult, you often have more freedom to cultivate a disciplined and fruitful prayer life. Growing in prayer is key to discovering the deepest longings in your heart. If you have a hard time growing in your prayer life, pursuing a spiritual director is vital.

Resist viewing vocational discernment as deciding about a “career change”

A temptation as a working adult is to view pursuing a vocation as a career change. A vocation is a divine call from God that we believe is truly who God created us to be. In the midst of your work, have you discovered a way to truly live your life glorifying God and serving His Church? Are you desiring to do this as a priest, a married man, or as a single man?

Pursue Friendship & Community

Friendship and community are crucial to growing in faith as young adults. In particular, if you are discerning, please fill out the form on the homepage so that we can connect you to a discernment small group.

Attend Office of Vocations Events including the annual Discernment Retreat

The Office of Vocations will be hosting many events. Events can be found on our home page. These events are opportunities to grow in deeper love for God and His Church. Our annual discernment retreat is at the beginning of every January - we strongly encourage you to attend! This is an annual opportunity to grow in prayer with other men desiring to grow in holiness and discover God’s call for their life. Registration for retreat will open each September.
