Women must be informed of breast cancer, abortion link

Thank you for the excellent article, “Connecting abortion and breast cancer” (CR, March 6), citing reasons for the high increase in breast cancer including, “induced abortions.”

Unhappily, women are not informed of the increased risk that abortion presents. I recommend that all women read this article which can still be found on the Review web site: https://www.catholicepaper.net/eeusers/catholicreview/, page 26.

Also a must-read for information on the link between abortion and breast cancer is the United States Conference of Catholic Bishop’ pamphlet, “Abortion and Breast Cancer: the Link That Won’t Go Away” (https://www.usccb.org/prolife/programs/rlp/Lanfranchipamphlet.pdf).

This pamphlet indicates that between 5 to 10 percent of women who have an abortion will get breast cancer. Given the millions of women who have had and will have abortions (over 1,000,000 annually), it means that millions of women will suffer from breast cancer as a result of their abortions.

Women must be informed of the increased risk of breast cancer from abortion so they can take measures for early detection and survival.
