Why Does Baltimore Go To NCYC?

Current Loyola University Maryland assistant director of campus ministry Kristin Witte and Brian Johnson of Galveston-Houston join Margaret Brogden and Scott Miller from Baltimore at 2009's NCYC.

More than 250 people from the Archdiocese of Baltimore will be heading to Indianapolis, starting with a bus trip tonight, for the National Catholic Youth Conference. And people who don’t go are wondering what the big deal is. Scott Miller, director of youth and young adult ministry for the Archdiocese of Baltimore, has an explanation. “The archdiocese values “big events” like NCYC because they offer young people experiences of an experience of a larger church beyond their parish or school,” Miller said. One of the things that will give Baltimore’s contingent an extra kick will be four priest attending with their parish youths. “Having our priests travel along side the young people is a living example to them that the church is committed to them and values their gifts and enthusiasm right here and now,” Miller said.
