Video: Shari Rigby reflects on abortion, October Baby role

It doesn’t get more real in a movie than Shari Rigby’s performance in “October Baby,” which I profiled in this story for CatholicReview.org.

Rigby had an abortion as a young woman, a fact that wasn’t known to the movie’s directors. Rigby’s character in the movie also had an abortion as a young person and is confronted by the teenager who survived the procedure. Her scenes are brief, but packed with haunting emotion. 

I saw the movie last month and Rigby’s turn, along with Jasmine Guy, of a Different World fame, deliver memorable turns as women connected in that abortion.
