Two St. Michael students among gifted

Two students from St. Michael the Archangel School, Overlea, were honored at a statewide awards ceremony for gifted children held by The Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth (CTY).
Entering eighth grade in the fall are Emma Dohmeier and Daniel Gonzalez who were among a large group of elementary and middle school students who had distinguished themselves through special testing as among the most academically gifted young students in the country. They were invited to the awards ceremony based on exceptional performances on a rigorous, above-grade-level test given to second through eighth graders. They took the same test used for college admissions.
CTY’s executive director Lea Ybarra said many students recognized at the awards ceremonies already know that “being smart is being cool.”
