Susan Banks is new principal of St. Agnes School

Strengthening the middle school program at St. Agnes School in Catonsville is one of Susan Banks’ top goals as she assumes her duties as the school’s new principal. Ms. Banks comes to St. Agnes following a two-year tenure as principal of Towson Catholic.
Praising the academic program at St. Agnes, Ms. Banks said she hopes to build the middle school curriculum “so students have a sense they are closer to high school.”
“I think that if we continue to work hard in developing the curriculum, the students’ already-good test scores will go higher and that will attract more kids,” said the parishioner of Immaculate Conception in Towson. There are currently 375 students enrolled at St. Agnes.
Ms. Banks said she also hopes to establish a full-day pre-kindergarten next year. She is impressed by the strong sense of Catholic identity at St. Agnes.
“That’s probably one of our greatest strengths,” she said. “It’s pretty amazing here.”
Ms. Banks previously taught at St. Anthony School in Baltimore and St. Margaret School in Bel Air. She is the former principal of Holy Family School in Randallstown and taught at Harford Community College. For 13 years, she taught at Forbush Secondary School on the Towson campus of Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Hospital. Ms. Banks holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Towson University and a master’s degree in education from Loyola College in Maryland, Baltimore.
